What Do Our Consultants Do?GEC consultants are Stanford students who promote sustainability, educate their peers, and implement changes in campus life. We select students who are passionate and committed, and we train them throughout fall quarter so that they are prepared to consult student groups during the latter part of the school year.
Our consultants are the core of the GEC program. Through training workshops and sessions put on by GEC staff, consultants develop skills in decision analysis, effective communication, and event management. The ability to critically examine products and suppliers during the event-planning process is crucial to determining the most environmentally responsible and fiscally feasible options for our clients. Consultants help student organizations tackle the four big categories of event planning: advertising, purchasing, food, and waste disposal. They help groups communicate with campus and off-campus resources and put groups in touch with sustainable suppliers. They also assist groups with budget writing and procurement of necessary funds to put on the event. |
