Green Events Consulting was founded in the fall of 2010 by 2010-11 Associated Students of Stanford University (ASSU) Sustainability Chair Theo Gibbs and a team of Stanford students: Vincent Chen, Susie Choi, Aurelia Heitz, Molly Oshun, and Noemi Walzebuck. Rather than expecting students to pursue sustainable event planning by themselves, we institutionalized a program that offers student organizations guidance and resources throughout the process. We hope to engage the Stanford community in a conversation about sustainability by recruiting students to serve as consultants as well as by working with student groups and leaders.
Our Vision: Green Events Consulting envisions a campus where all events abide by a new standard of sustainable practices and metrics and where event attendees are actively aware of these measures.
Our Mission Statement: Green Events Consulting is a program for Stanford students that provides consulting services, financial support, and expertise to guide campus event planning. We educate students about and help them reduce the negative environmental impact of their events.

This is her second year with GEC and first serving on staff and she is looking forward to teaching many more people about what trash goes in which bin :) In addition to GEC, Darien plays flute in Stanford's orchestra and marching band, gives campus tours, and lives in the Enchanted Broccoli Forest co-op.
Hana Kajimura, Project Leader
- 2014 (Senior) Earth Systems
- Though I entered Stanford undeclared, my abroad experiences at Stanford have firmly rooted my passion in the environment. I spent six months in Cape Town, South Africa working on an urban garden and developing environmental education curriculum. When I returned, I declared Earth Systems and decided to head to Washington DC to get the policy and corporate perspective on environmental issues. After two internships at the Environmental Defense Fund, I am excited to return to campus and implement some tangible "green" solutions in my immediate community.
Kendrick Kho
Kendrick Kho, Project Leader

Edwin Brower, Fall Outreach Officer
- B.S. Materials Science & Engineering (2012); M.S. Materials Science & Engineering (2013)

He studied renewable energy abroad in Iceland the summer of 2011, which deepened his interest in green energy. Edwin was on the rowing team at Stanford as an undergraduate, and he now is trying to take advantage of the many other opportunities that Stanford offers. He enjoys biking, running, and working out.
We welcome our new 2013-14 interns!
